Late ‘Osondi Owendi’ remix crooner, Obiajulu Nwazor, popularly known as MC Loph, will be buried on October 28 at his family compound in Ugwuaro, Anambra State. The ceremony is expected to gulp millions of naira.

Mr Obi Madubogwu, a representative of Morgan Entertainment - the deceased’s record label - disclosed this recently in a telephone conversation with GM. He hinted that the label is taking total care of the burial which will kick off on October 21 in Lagos with candle night activities.

“The burial will commence on October 21 with a peace walk from Ojuelegba Bus Stop to Ojez at the National Stadium by 4pm. A candle light night will start immediately at Ojez. On October 26, there will be a musical concert by 4pm at Emmus House Ground, at Arthur Eze Avenue by Choice Hotel, in Awka, Anambra State. 

There would be a wake-keep at the late Nwaozor`s compound, Ugwuaro, Umunze, Anambra while the burial will be held at the same venue on October 28,” he disclosed.

MC Loph died in an auto crash along Benin/Ore Expressway on Wednesday, September 14, when he was on his way to Anambra State while preparing for his traditional wedding then planned for September 17.

How Goje diverted N12.9bn, by EFCC ...Akala gets N500m bail

The Economic and Financial Crimes commission (EFCC) has filed charges against the former Gombe State Governor Muhammed Danjuma Goje for allegedly defrauding the state of the sum of N12. 9bn.

The former governor was alleged to have conspired with four others to steal the money earmarked for the development of the state.

Part of the 18 count-charge filed at the Federal High Court in Gombe alleged that Goje, between 2003 and 2011 while he was governor of Gombe State, conspired with others to conceal, disguise and convert N5bn state funds.

Goje allegedly conspired with one Alhaji Sabo Mohammed Tumu, a food supplier at the Gombe State government house, to conceal and divert tune sum of N1.9bn state funds.

He also conspired with  Alhaji Aliyu Ubadoma El-Nafaty, the state former Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board to divert and conceal N830m being property of the board, among others.

Goje also allegedly conspired with one S.M Dokoro, the proprietor of S.M Dokogo Gombe, to conceal and divert N242m State funds.

Similarly, the EFCC has charged the former Nasarawa State governor Aliyu Akwe Doma over allegations of misappropriating N14.1bn.

The 17 count charge to be filed on Tuesday, October 18 at a Federal High Court in Lafia alleged that Doma connived with nine others to siphon the state funds.

The others accused in the charges are: Timothy Anthony Anjide, Dauda Egwa, Aigbakhode John, Abdumumin Jibrin, Senator John Dangoyi, Sulieman Ibrahim, Incapint Nigeria Limited, Broswork Limited, and Green Forest Investment Limited.

Part of the charges reads that Aliyu Akwe Doma, Timothy Anthony Anjide and Dauda Egwa between January 2007 and December 2009 diverted the sum of N5bn.

Meanwhile, an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has granted bail to former Oyo State Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, and two others – Senator Hosea Agboola and Mr. Femi Babalola – at N500m and N300m respectively.

The accused are standing trial on an 11-count charge of fraud and conspiracy preferred against them by the EFCC.

Panel denies indicting Buhari over post-election riots

ABUJA—Barely 24 hours after the Federal Government panel on the 2011 Elections Violence and Civil Disturbances submitted its report and a section of the media alleged that former head of state and Presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), was indicted for making provocative utterances that instigated the violence, Chairman of the panel, Dr. Sheikh Ahmed Lemu, has said Buhari was never indicted in the panel’s report submitted to President Goodluck Jonathan.

The report submitted by Sheikh Lemu, had said, “Provocative utterances by many individuals and the widespread charge by prominent politicians including the CPC presidential candidate, to the electorate to ‘guard their votes’, ‘appeared’ to have been misconstrued by many voters to include recourse to violence which they misconstrued.”

But, Lemu, in a chat with select journalists in Abuja, yesterday, described the interpretation as misleading noting, “We never indicted Buhari. From the outset, we said the commission is not out to indict anybody. We are not a judicial panel. It was a shock to us to hear or read that we blamed Buhari for the violence.

“In all my years as a teacher, a judge etc, I have come to learn that no matter what you do or how good your idea or suggestion is, somebody must criticise you. In fact, what we said in our report exonerated him (Buhari). We made it clear to Mr. President that we are not out to indict anybody.”

The chairman stressed that at the meeting his panel had with Gen. Buhari,  where he opened up to them, he (Lemu) was surprised that he (Buhari) was able to talk to them, giving them instances where he was a victim of the post-election violence.

Lemu said: “I sent a team of prominent members of the panel to meet with Buhari. I never thought he would even agree to talk to us, but he did. He told us that he himself was a victim of the violence and of the destruction of his property the photographs of which were given to the panel. He explained to the panel he would never be a supporter of violence.”
Meanwhile, the Buhari Campaign Organisation has commended the report of the panel, saying it has vindicated Gen. Buhari’s position that he never instigated the crisis but was a fallout of social, political and economic conditions in the country.

Buhari reacts
Mr. Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of the organisation, said the report which was submitted to President Jonathan clearly located the cause of the crisis which engulfed parts of country, as a failure of governance at that period.

On the report’s alleged indictment of Buhari, Odumakin said instead the report vindicated him, saying the call for the electorate to defend their votes was similarly made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and its Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

He said: “The report vindicated Gen. Buhari, who asked people to guard their vote, the same way INEC and Prof. Jega and religous leaders such as Pastor Adeboye asked people to protect their vote. The report did not indict Gen. Buhari.”

He said: “We commend the panel for locating the causes of the problem and identifying as one, the internal schism within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). We are also happy that the panel also said that the problem was neither a religious, Christian/muslim thing; neither North versus South issue. It was, according to the panel, a failure of governance at the time.

“The panel also identified the pervasive poverty in the land, the monetisation of politics as a do or die affair and the failure of government both now and the past to implement past report on disturbances as the reason for the outbreak of violence after the election.

I feel greatly ashamed to be part of this country at a time like this. I feel ashamed that not enough of our people either know enough, or have the guts to expose the lies and ignorance going on in our land. Last year when the arrangements were on to package and sell a fake messiah to us, I did see the handwriting on the wall. When in their desperation to stage their make-believe, they tried to ban our football at all levels for two years, hiding under the disgraceful performance at the World Cup in South Africa, I was lucky the Vanguard newspapers published my article. In it I sought to expose their charade and in the process was lucky to be the first person to label President Jonathan a fake messiah. Over one year down the line, a lot has happened. They have successfully foisted him on our nation and people. Our hope of breaking out of mis-governance, stealing in public office, lies and manipulation in powers has been lost, at least for the next four years. The signs are there, but few have come to realise it. The very messiah who promised among other things a fresh air has shown a total lack of the required tact and determination to bring about any freshness. After four months in office, where is the fresh air? Rather, what we got is a pretentious buck-passing game, handing over the task of revitalising our dead economy to Dr Iweala. The smart among us are getting to realise that the messiah we supposedly elected has neither vision nor agenda outside the usual loots that come with public office. His was just the animalistic desire to be a lord over us; lacking in any intelligence, any sound conviction or commitment to chart a new and better life for our dying population. Even as Dr Iweala goes about solving our economic problems, I see more ignorance and misconceptions on her part. I am once more alarmed that the madam they have dumped the hope of salvaging what is left for our people on her laps, has chosen to go the wrong way. There have been stories of her being an IMF/World Bank stooge. Some say she was a middle-level World Bank staff until after the Obasanjo regime when she did a good work for them, ensuring our nation wasted a whopping $16b to settle doubtful loans; after which she was compensated with a higher office. I have no evidence to accuse her even while I strongly believe the repayment of the loan was part of the tactics used by western powers to reduce the impact of the banking crises that engulfed them then. I remember vividly that she was part of Obasanjo’s NEEDS agenda that bought us no success. I remember all they can achieve in terms of jobs creation was the importation of tricycles. I am also convinced she must be in the know of the massive stealing that went on during Obasanjo’s tenure. Today, I see no success in the route she is embarking on. I see in her a brainwashed slave of the present neo-colonial order that we are in, one who has been given the task of liberating other slaves. I see the economic conditions at our home vis-à-vis the world economic order as that of masters and slaves. So long as we, as the slaves of the present world order, allow ourselves to be brainwashed by our domineering masters, our freedom and economic wellbeing will never be. Which other explanation will I give the recent purported agreements reached with the World Bank to create jobs in Nigeria? In which country has IMF/World Bank created jobs? Rather their policies are responsible for the massive jobs losses recorded in third world countries, in the past. The Americans and Europeans who controls the Bretton Woods institutions are presently battling with serious economic problems. Their public finances are in the red, their people are losing their jobs in record numbers, yet our ignorant messiahs expect them to create jobs for us and not for their donor countries. In the midst of this, they are dragging our country into a contest with China, in a war that is not ours. Why will she ask for Chinese jobs to be relocated in the open? What about American or European jobs? Must we take jobs from China before we can create our own jobs? The Chinese are winning the economic war against the Europeans and the Americans, who have played all known tricks and will continue to do so, until they take back the advantage. Even if she has the capacity to take some jobs from China back home, it must be a discreet game. It is only a foolish ignorant person who lacks knowledge of the world economy that will make the statement credited to her. Dragging the name of our country in a direct competition for jobs with the Chinese can only satisfy the goals of her masters. She has unknowingly offered herself and our nation as tools by her masters to fight the Chinese with. In the end, it is the Nigerian masses that will bear the brunt because even if IMF/World Bank can take some jobs from China, those jobs will never find their way to Africa. They will rather head to Europe and America. Obama presently will do everything within his power to grab any possible jobs to reduce the unemployment rate which may work against his re-election next year. So will most other politicians in Europe. Yet our messiahs look up on them to create our jobs. Even at that, how will IMF/World Bank create jobs for us? Is it the Bretton Woods institutions that will restore security of lives and property in our country? Will they also get our policing working, to ensure law and order? Is it their task to repair our failed roads and railways? How will the companies in China relocate to Nigeria when we cannot even generate enough power to run the few companies in our land? How will they operate in our corruption-infested environment where government and its official are the greatest disincentive to investment? How will they ensure that our courts work to ensure that business disagreement are settled in record times? Can there be a flourishing business/investment environment where basic law and order is impossible? Can one move goods from one place to another in our country without bribing the police? Can an investor trust the local manager of his companies in present-day Nigeria where everyone, from security staff and secretaries to management staff, is stealing from their companies? First things first! Get our laws working and everything will follow. No amount of lies and deception will work. For Nigeria to work, Jonathan must change; he must first be educated and knowledgeable enough to understand basic world politics. He must be sincere enough to abandon self-interest. He must be committed enough to enforce the right behaviour among his ministers and his party executives. His kitchen staff, even his family, must all be above board. The mess in our judiciary must be cleaned up, the docile security personnel who survive on patronage must be sacked, and our security system cleaned up. The stealing in government circles must stop. Our laws must begin to work. To want to make impact as President of Nigeria while tolerating all the stealing going on is a deception that will never work. IBB tried it and it caught up with him. Obasanjo lived it for eight years and the result is dying population of the day. Jonathan taking the same way will definitely leave us in a worse state. Borrowing from the devious Obasanjo who I hate every of his ways: I can only say “I DEY LAUGH OH” because I am convinced Dr Iweala and Jonathan have already failed. Running adverts in newspapers to showcase results that are lacking in celebration of his first 100 days will never work. After four years, Nigerians will continue in our dying state realising that we have been fooled again, while Jonathan and his cohorts will be smiling to the banks with stolen trillions.

Blaming Buhari for post-election violence is simply ridiculous..Monday Midnite

I dey laugh!!!Fellow Nigerians, why are we always contented in treating the symptom instead of the disease? 


The post election violence was precipitated by 12 woeful years of outright barefaced massive corruption by the PDP looting cabal. 


12yrs that saw tens of millions of our brothers and sisters swimming in the vile pool of abject poverty while the looting cabal and their family lived in tip top luxury. 


12 yrs of broken promises that saw our education system in near pulverization while the ruling elites sent their children to schools in neighboring Ghana and the Western world. 


12 awful years that saw hospitals across the nation metamorphosed into graveyards. 


Do I need to go on? Do I need to talk about the pitch darkness millions endure daily because of lack of power supply? Do I need to talk about our numerous roads of death? 


Folks, please, let's call a spade a spade. In any given society, when majority of citizens are condemned to live in such disastrous state of complete neglect, one don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that most of them can be incited on the fly with chump change and a loaf of bread to foment upheaval. 


On the other hand, any society where the government's impact is positively felt by majority of the citizens, no one can be induced to commit such heinous atrocities we saw in the aftermath of the elections.


 It's easy to cowardly point finger at Buhari coz a scapegoat is needed to satisfy our urge for what I would call placebo justice. But that's just misguided sentiment because  deep down inside we all know that there's no true healing there. So people, let's wake up from our sleep and slumber and focus on treating the disease instead of the symptom.  Shalom!!

As we gather together in solidarity to express our feeling of mass injustice we must not lose sight of what has brought us together.

We write so that all the people of the world that feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, united we acknowledge the reality that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members, that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system it is up the individuals to protect their own rights and those of their neighbors.

That a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent permission to extract wealth from the people and the earth and no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power.

We come to you at time when corporations place profits over people and self-interest over justice and oppression over equality run our governments.

We have peaceably assembled here as our right to let these facts be known:

They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process despite not having the original mortgage.

They have taken bailout from taxpayers with impunity and continue to give executives exorbitant bonuses

They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in workplaces based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.

They have poisoned the food supply through negligence and have undermined the farming system through monopolization.

They have profited from the torture, confinement and cruelty of countless animals and actively hide these practices.

They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.

They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars on debt of education, which itself is a human right.

They have continuously outsourced labor and used that outsourcing a leverage to cut workers healthcare and pay.

They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people but none of the culpability or responsibility.

They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get the out of contracts with regards to health insurance.

They have sold our privacy as a commodity.

They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.

They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.

They determine economic policy despite the catastrophic failure their policies have produced and continue to produce.

They have donated large sums of money to politicians who are responsible for regulating them.

They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.

They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already returned a substantial profit.

They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.

They purposely kept people misinformed and fearful with their control of the media.

They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.

They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.

They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians at home and overseas.

They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts.

To the people the world, we the people of the general assembly occupying Wall street in liberty square urge you to assert your power and exercise your right to peaceably assemble occupy pubic space, create a process to address the problems we face and generate solutions accessible to everyone.

To all communities that take action form groups in the spirit of direct democracy we offer support, documentation, and all the resources at our disposal.

Sources in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that former Governor Danjuma Goje of Gombe state stole more than 70 billion naira ($450 million). Our sources disclosed that a huge chunk of the loot was through the pocketing of security votes.


Mr. Goje, who is currently a senator, spent two terms – for a total of eight years – as the governor of Gombe. An EFCC source familiar with the agency’s investigation of Senator Goje’s corruption disclosed that the former governor made a habit of pocketing the slush funds known as "security votes." “In my years at the EFCC, I have not seen greed like this,” said another source, adding that “Senator Goje did not care that his state has no structures of development on ground.”
Many state governors are known to steal security votes outright. In 2010, police in Lagos caught aides of Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State with about N250 million in cash, which was then the sum of the governor’s monthly security votes. Then Inspector-General of Police Michael Okiro helped to cover up the case after extracting a significant bribe from Mr. Obi.

Also today, an EFCC source told SaharaReporters that the proposed trial of former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun would likely be delayed to enable EFCC lawyers to prepare comprehensive charges against him. The source indicated that a team of EFCC lawyers led by Rotimi Jacobs was working hard to compile the charges against Mr. Daniel, a two-term former governor of Ogun State.
The source said that EFCC officials had uncovered how Mr. Daniel extensively looted funds from his state over the last eight years. “This man’s conversion of state resources and theft of public funds was legendary,” said the source, adding that details of Mr. Daniel’s embezzlement were contained in an 80-page petition filed against him by "elders” from Ogun State. One of the signatories to the petition is former President Olusegun Obasanjo.


Reacting to Obasanjo’s signing of the “elders’ petition, a PDP politician who was once close to Mr. Daniel before falling out with him, stated that the former president had used his office to help cover up Mr. Daniel's acts of corruption. SaharaReporters had detailed Mr. Daniel’s acts of corruption and money laundering from his first term in office.
A source within the EFCC hinted that Mr. Daniel's trial was unlikely to commence tomorrow as previously planned. 


However, he said the three governors arrested last week are expected to make brief court appearances tomorrow.
Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, is reportedly engaged in behind-the-scenes deals to arrange “soft” bail terms for the detained governors in exchange for cash. “The former ADC to Chief Daniels has made several visits to the AGF since last Thursday,” said one of our sources.


Some staff at the Ministry of Justice say that Mr. Adoke is just as bad as his predecessor, Michael Aondoakaa, who became notorious for accepting bribes from corrupt politicians to arrange bails or the destruction of their prosecution.
