President Jonathan Should Come Clean--Osita Okechukwu

By Osita Okechukwu
On the question of why Conference of Nigerian Political Parties {CNPP} has not congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Osita Okechukwu, National Publicity Secretary of CNPP said that the CNPP will definitely congratulate Mr President when he comes clean with the sources and amount he spent on the campaign.
‘CNPP cannot congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan when on the last count, outside other breaches, he violently violated Section 91 of the 2010 Electoral Act by spending over N100 billion in his campaign, hence corrupting the electoral process’, said Osita Okechukwu.

On how CNPP came to the amount, he said, ‘gentlemen of the press, please help us to calculate the total amount of money the Jonathan Campaign Council spent on advertisement on electronic, print and social  media network alone, it is over N17 billion.’
Quoting the International Monetary Fund {IMF} Director for Africa, Ms Antoinette Sayeh, ‘It’s important countries do as much as they can to protect the considerable gains they  have made and to really endeavour to rebuild some of the buffers and to resist some of the clear political pressures and the temptation to expand budgetary spending.’

CNPP is in the know how billions of Naira was doled out across the country to induce voters by sundry groups in the name of President Goodluck Jonathan and thus expanding the budgetary spending. Did the Neighbour to Neighbour group, discover electricity or a window in the computer, in other words who funded such quasi organizations?
CNPP will congratulate President Jonathan when he comes clean on the amount spent and the sources, failing which the legitimacy crisis will linger.
