PRESIDENTIAL POLLS by Mary Achor-Ogungbola

  • Mary Achor-Ogungbola
    • IF YOU BELIEVE we can afford to continue to move at the speed of Patience Jonathan newly commissioned locomotive engine that travel between Lagos and Abeokuta for 2 hours, a distance of 80km, while high speed train in China Line travels at 300km per Hour and soon-to-be 320km per Hour on another brand, the Tohoku shinkansen. VOTE the Status Quo.

If you want educational standard to continue crashing further while children of the rich go abroad to have quality education and all you have is promise of new university with collapsed infrastructure on existing ones as well as brain drain, with lecturers going on constant strike or running out of the country for greener pastures; VOTE the Status Quo

If you want our government to continue spending $1.5 billion on a Zungeru 600 megawatts gas turbine power plant, while at Omar (Middle East) the same capacity cost $404,494,380 million; VOTE the Status Quo.

If you want the bloated 16,500 political Office holders from Presidency to Local Government Chairmen to continue to consume 75% of our national budget while the rest is lost in transit and the expected infrastructural development lie on promissory notes; interestingly too, Aso Rock spends 1.57 million Naira on food for the President household alone daily; VOTE the Status Quo.

If you want Nigerian looters to continue to loot and have state pardon, plea bargaining or light penalty like Bode George who stole 100 billion and served 21/2 years in jail, and Halliburton case which is being watered down now; all signs of treating corruption with levity; VOTE the Status Quo.

IF you want to continue to buy fuel for N65 per litre or the deregulated diesel for N150 and Kerosine out of reach, with same 1 litre of Petrol costing only N2. 20k in Venezuela, while the decade-age long promise to build new refineries remain unfulfilled in the face of oil cabals who benefit from subsides, deregulation and importation; “VOTE the Status Quo

If you want doctors to keep going on strike due to salaries not being paid, increment not being implemented or complain of inadequate equipment to work with, kindly VOTE STATUS QUO

IF INDIA CAN BUILD THE WORLD LARGEST REFINERY FOR 6.1 BILLION DOLLARS AND WE SPENT 27 BILLION-DOLLARS EXCESS CRUDE ACCOUNT TO ACHIEVE NOTHING, THEN WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR LEADERS.

WE NEED INCORRUPTIBLE, UPRIGHT MEN and WOMEN OF INTEGRITY.

Nigerians should look for people who have capacity to confront the twin evils of indiscipline and corruption, the greatest obstacle to our national development.

Fortunately, the duo of Gen Muhammadu Buhari rtd & Dr. Tunde Bakare of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) fit the bill. Let us take this to town. Every citizen needs a future guaranteed for our children and the yet unborn generation.

We cannot for instant gratification mortgage our posterity and inheritance

      P.S

For those who are not in the country, please educate your relatives on the options available to us. Let's reduce the dependency and get Nigeria working. Encourage them to go out and vote for change. It's only possible when everyone participate in the process rather than leaving just a group of people to bear the burden. The sole reason why you are not in the country of your origin is because of the state of the nation. Ajo o le da bi ile (or Sojourn is not the same as your own house/home/birthplace/community). Change is very very possible!
